William Plummer
About
Dr. William Plummer is the director of Choral Activities and an associate professor in the School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He conducts the UL Lafayette Chamber Singers, the Ragin Cajun Soprano/Alto Choir, and the UL Lafayette Tenor/Bass Chorale. Dr. Plummer teaches advanced choral conducting, choral literature, and graduate-level courses for the choral conducting degree. His research interests include performance practices, Hungarian and Eastern European choral repertoire, and early music. A national finalist for the Dale Warland Award for Choral Conducting in 2023, Dr. Plummer is also a published composer with Hinshaw Music. Under his direction, the UL Lafayette Chamber Singers, founded in 2012, have won and placed in multiple international competitions, including earning the Grand Prix award in international competition and achieving the highest score by any choir at the International Choral Festival Wales with a Gold Award in 2021. His commissions and world premieres have included new works by composers from Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, England, and the United States.

BA in Piano from Berea College; MM in Choral Conducting from the University of Louisville; DMA in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University
