Verónica Villarroel is an internationally acclaimed operatic soprano and renowned vocal instructor. Born in Chile in 1965, she achieved distinction by winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 1989, launching an illustrious international singing career spanning from 1992 to her retirement from the stage in 2014. Ms. Villarroel performed leading roles at the world's most prestigious opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera House, La Scala in Milan, San Francisco Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. She collaborated with internationally renowned maestros and artists including Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Montserrat Caballé, and worked with visionary directors such as James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Franco Zefirelli, and Bob Wilson. Currently, Villarroel teaches at the Opera Naples Academy, where she mentors the next generation of singers. She founded the Verónica Villarroel Foundation in 2016 to support young musicians in their careers. Her teaching combines decades of professional performing experience with deep knowledge of vocal technique and bel canto traditions.
