About
Tyler Nelson is an Associate Professor of Voice at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, where he teaches classical voice, voice pedagogy, and directs opera productions. He is recognized as one of America's most promising young tenors with an impressive performance career spanning major opera houses and concert venues internationally. His recent engagements have included performances with the Atlanta Opera, Utah Valley Symphony, Saginaw Bay Symphony, and Salt Lake City Choral Artists. He has appeared as a soloist on the stages of the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. He is a frequent performer with Ohio Light Opera and has performed at the prestigious Castleton Festival under the baton of Maestro Lorin Maazel, including roles in operas such as The Barber of Seville, which he also performed with the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China. As a teacher and clinician, Tyler has been a visiting professor at conservatories in Venezuela, Finland, Singapore, and Poland, presenting concerts and master classes throughout the world.
