Tracy Elizabeth Dahl is Canada's premiere coloratura soprano who has enjoyed a high-profile international career since the mid-1980s, performing in opera houses and on concert stages around the world. Born November 13, 1961, Tracy has been voice teacher at the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba since 1997, where she serves as Professor of Voice. Praised for her effortless flights of coloratura and natural acting abilities, she has sung in opera houses throughout North America, including the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, Colorado Symphony, Portland Opera, and Canadian Opera Company, performing over 25 roles. In 2006, she made her La Scala debut as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, one of the most demanding coloratura roles in the repertoire. Tracy is known for her agility, exceptional vocal range, and places great importance on education alongside her impressive singing career. In 2017, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, awarded for her performing career and her work mentoring and teaching the next generation of singers at the University of Manitoba. Her teaching combines technical mastery with artistic interpretation, drawing on her extensive international performance experience to develop students into complete artists.
