Timothy Sparks

Timothy W. Sparks is a Lecturer in Voice and Coordinator of Minor & Non-Major Voice Study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A lyric tenor, Timothy serves on the voice faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill, teaching voice majors, minors, and non-major students. He previously taught at Meredith College for ten years prior to joining the UNC voice faculty, where he won four Faculty Development Awards. Timothy has appeared with numerous opera companies including The Israel Vocal Arts Institute, Operafestival di Roma, Jacksonville Lyric Opera, First Coast Opera, North Carolina Opera, Greensboro Opera Company, Triangle Opera, and National Opera Company. Many of his voice students have gone on to top conservatories for graduate degrees, ultimately pursuing performance opportunities with regional opera/theater companies, symphonies, and Broadway national tours. He is an active adjudicator and member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), having served as a state district officer and as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Governor.

Education & Qualifications

BM in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. MM with the Performer's Certificate in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music. Member of Pi Kappa Lambda.
