Dr. Tim O'Brien is a tenor and Lecturer of Voice at Texas State University School of Music in San Marcos, where he has taught since 2021. A two-time Grammy nominee, Dr. O'Brien's performances can be heard on more than a dozen commercial recordings and recently on the HBO show White Lotus. His singing has been praised by Oregon Artswatch as "vibrant and subtle," Willamette Week noted his "rich, dark palette," and the St. Paul Pioneer Press praised his "strong, yet vulnerable" portrayal of Purcell's Aeneas. He holds a BA in Music and English from Gustavus Adolphus College, an MA in Musicology from the University of Minnesota, and a DMA in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. O'Brien has performed with Austin Opera, Austin Symphony, Minnesota Opera, Conspirare, Texas Early Music Project, the Dale Warland Singers, and the Rose Ensemble, with whom he has toured nationally and internationally. He is artistic director of Living Paper Song Project and Director of Music at St. Martin's Lutheran Church.
