Thomas Almli
About
Thomas Almli is a full professor and Program Chair of the Music Department at Bellevue College, where he has been Director of Choral Music Activities since 2002. Professor Almli directs the acclaimed, award-winning Celebration Jazz Singers, an internationally recognized vocal jazz ensemble that performs at major jazz festivals and conferences nationwide. The ensemble won the 2020 Next Generation Jazz Competition in the College Vocal Jazz Category and has performed at five IAJE national conferences and six Jazz Education Network Conferences. Additionally, he directs the BC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. Thomas teaches Music Theory, History of Jazz, Music Appreciation, and maintains an active private voice and conducting studio. He specializes in science-based voice pedagogy across classical, contemporary commercial music, vocal jazz, and musical theater genres. His background includes decades of experience in choral and vocal instruction.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Pacific Lutheran University and Luther College; Master of Education from University of Washington.
