Theresa Brancaccio
About
Theresa Brancaccio is a mezzo-soprano and Senior Lecturer in Voice and Opera at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where she has taught voice and vocal pedagogy since 1999. The Chicago Tribune described her voice as 'cushiony and appealing from top to bottom.' Her students have performed at prestigious venues including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago, Covent Garden, and Santa Fe Opera. Notable alumni include soprano Amanda Majeski and counter-tenor Kangmin Justin Kim. Her students have received awards from the Richard Tucker Foundation, Marilyn Horne Foundation, and George London Foundation. She developed the Singer Savvy Mobile App in 2017 with a Provost's Digital Learning Fellowship to monitor vocal health and activity. She has conducted research with wireless voice dosimeters to measure vocal fatigue in real-time, co-authoring a paper in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2023. She served as Master Teacher for the 2021 NATS Intern Program and received the inaugural William Vessels Master Teacher Award.
