Teri Kowiak
About
Teri Kowiak is an accomplished voice teacher and vocal coach based in Watertown, Massachusetts, who has been teaching privately in the Boston area since 2010, with over 15 years of total private instruction experience. She holds a Master of Music degree in Early Music from the Longy School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from Ithaca College. As a performer, Teri specializes in the historically informed performance of medieval, renaissance and baroque music while also performing a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, traditional Irish/Celtic, and premiering new compositions. She is a featured performer with several Boston-area ensembles and has been noted for her compassionate and innovative work with trans opera singers. Her teaching approach guides students to discover their authentic vocal sound through curious exploration, increasing physical awareness, and clarifying intentions, emphasizing the development of technical ability, musicality, and confidence for sustainable, healthy singing practices. She runs a thriving private voice studio, gives workshops on performance practice, and provides choral coaching to local ensembles.
