Susan Dorchin is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Music at Florida Atlantic University, where she has taught voice since 1996 as the department's second voice instructor. She maintains specialized expertise in vocal rehabilitation, helping singers overcome severe vocal issues caused by improper technique, and has developed successful techniques for eliminating vocal nodules. Ms. Dorchin is a certified Alexander Technique instructor, bringing this discipline into her teaching methodology. Her background includes performing with prestigious groups such as the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus and the New England Opera Center. She maintained a private studio in New York for two decades before joining FAU, teaching at Texas Tech University, and previously hosted an opera radio program for eleven years. Her expertise spans vocal pedagogy at multiple levels, vocal solo literature, and the Alexander Technique for musicians. Ms. Dorchin holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music, where she was a recipient of the Arthur B. Whitney award, and a Master of Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University.
