Steven Tharp

Missouri-born tenor Steven Tharp is Associate Professor of Voice and Voice Area Coordinator at the University of Missouri. His operatic credits include performances with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Netherlands Opera, Badisches Staatsoper, Teatro Massimo, and companies of Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Memphis, Omaha, Salt Lake City and Miami. Handel and Mozart are well represented in his repertoire of more than 60 operatic parts. He won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 1987. Mr. Tharp has appeared in recital at New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, 92nd Street Y, Carnegie Weill Hall, Bard Festival, Caramoor, Newport Chamber Music Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, and venues in Europe, Japan and South America. His world-premiere recording of the complete songs of Edward MacDowell earned a Grammy Award nomination.
