Steven Brennfleck is a Lecturer in Voice at the University of Texas at Austin's Butler School of Music. An accomplished tenor praised by Opera News for his 'sensitive' artistry and noted by the New York Times as a 'standout' performer, Brennfleck brings extensive operatic experience from prestigious venues including Glimmerglass Opera, Portland Opera, and Spoleto Festival USA. His operatic repertoire spans from classical masterpieces like Rossini's Cenerentola and Mozart's Die Zauberflöte to contemporary works and Philip Glass operas. In concert, he specializes in early music, particularly Baroque compositions, and is passionate about art song and lieder. Brennfleck has been trained in the Alexander Technique since 2004 and completed a comprehensive 1600-hour training program in 2016 at the Alexander Technique Moving Arts Center in Austin, Texas. His teaching philosophy integrates vocal technique with body awareness and sustainable performance practice.
