Stephen Jay Morris
About
Stephen Jay Morris has enjoyed an extraordinarily wide-ranging career as a professional musician, working as a soloist, accompanist, conductor, composer, church musician and educator. He has more than 45 years of experience as an accompanist and vocal coach and more than 35 years teaching private voice. His particular interest and expertise is in the developing female voice (ages 10-18), though he teaches all voice types and levels of proficiency. Mr. Morris holds degrees in music education and piano and organ performance from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and a Master's Degree with distinction from Baylor University in Waco. He has done additional graduate work in sacred music, organ, and choral conducting at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. He is a member of the organ faculty at Baylor University in Waco, where he also works as an accompanist and vocal coach. For nearly twelve years, Mr. Morris served as the Organist-Choirmaster and Director of Music Ministries at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Houston. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) in the Texoma region.
