Stephen Bomgardner

Dr. Stephen Bomgardner is Professor Emeritus of Music at Drury University, where he taught voice, lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, and music history from 2005 to 2024. He combines an active singing career with extensive teaching experience, having performed over 130 solo and chamber music recitals across major US cities. His opera repertoire includes 39 character tenor roles performed with Springfield Regional Opera in 15 productions over 13 years. A full-time music professor since 1996, he previously taught at Minnesota State University-Mankato, Gustavus Adolphus College, Pittsburg State University, and University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He has delivered 45 lecture recitals at regional and national conferences, focusing on composers including Stravinsky, Britten, Haydn, Chopin, Mussorgsky, Finzi, Wolf, and Copland.
