Stephanie Nakasian is recognized by the Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz as 'one of the leading jazz singers in the world today' with 13 CDs as a leader and extensive radio broadcasts. She has performed as a headliner at venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Northsea Jazz Festival. Nakasian teaches non-classical voice at the University of Virginia, specializing in jazz vocals, theater, pop, folk, rock, and gospel repertoire. She focuses on vocal technique, voice safety, tone development, pitch correction, sound quality improvement, and leads improvisation workshops from elementary through professional levels. Nakasian is the author of 'It's not on the Page! How to Integrate Jazz and Jazz Rhythm into Choral and Solo Repertoire' and 'You already know how to sing: Voice lessons - Life lessons' which includes two instructional CDs. She is the mother of professional jazz singer Veronica Swift and was musically partnered with late jazz pianist Hod O'Brien.
