Stephanie Foley Davis is Associate Director and Master Teacher at The Music Academy of North Carolina since 2011. She has performed leading roles with major opera companies across the United States, including Arizona Opera, Nashville Opera, and Glimmerglass Festival. The New York Times praised her Glimmerglass debut in The Tender Land as 'poised, touching,' while Opera News described her performance as 'loving, careworn Ma, warm of voice and presence.' Her operatic roles span diverse repertoire, including Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Charlotte in Werther, and Mercedes in Carmen. Stephanie has also performed as mezzo-soprano soloist with orchestras including the Memphis Symphony and Winston-Salem Symphony, performing works by Bernstein and Beethoven. Her notable achievement includes creating the role of Flo in the world premiere of Libby Larsen's Picnic in 2009, commissioned by UNCG's School of Music. Recent credits include Mercedes in Greensboro Opera's Carmen, Suzuki in Piedmont Opera's Madama Butterfly, and mezzo soloist in Winston-Salem Symphony's Beethoven's 9th. As a voice instructor, she works with students of various ages and abilities, emphasizing comprehensive vocal technique and performance preparation.
