Sondra Kelly is a mezzo-soprano voice faculty member at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. She brings extensive professional performance experience and a commitment to mentoring the next generation of singers. Kelly has been a teacher not only for Lincoln Center but for conservatories, universities, young artist programs and music schools throughout the country. Her professional career began at the Metropolitan Opera, where she appeared in more than two hundred and fifty performances of twenty-three different roles. Beyond her position at The Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut, Kelly serves on the faculty of The Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She maintains private studios in Boston and New Jersey. Kelly acts both as teacher and mentor to help prepare her students for successful careers, and many of her students have been accepted into young artist programs here and abroad, with some starting their own careers as principal artists at major opera companies.
