Sheila Willey
About
Sheila Willey is a soprano and Lecturer in Voice and Opera at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she heads up one of the very few opera programs in the United States to feature almost entirely undergraduate casts. She holds an M.A. in Vocal Performance Practice from UC Santa Cruz and B.M. degrees in Voice Performance and Music Education from Peabody Conservatory. As a soprano, Sheila performs extensively in Santa Cruz and the Bay Area in styles ranging from chamber music and oratorio to musical theater. She has directed numerous acclaimed opera productions at UCSC, including The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, The Fairy Queen, Pirates of Penzance, and Into the Woods, bringing professional-level opera training to undergraduate students. Sheila offers private voice lessons for students at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, teaching classical/art song, opera, and musical theater repertoire with a focus on healthy vocal technique and expressive performance.
