Shawn Roy
About
Shawn Roy is an accomplished American operatic bass-baritone and academic who has served as the head of the opera program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette since 1998. As coordinator of vocal studies and master instructor, Mr. Roy brings decades of expertise in vocal pedagogy and operatic performance to his teaching. He has directed numerous productions for the UL Lafayette Opera Theatre, demonstrating his comprehensive understanding of both the performance and technical aspects of singing. Roy has starred in major operatic roles, including the title role in the Opera Theatre production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. His expertise spans classical opera, musical theatre, and contemporary vocal literature. As a faculty member at the UL Lafayette Vocal Arts Camp, he provides private lessons and coaches aspiring singers in vocal technique, interpretation, and stage presence. His students benefit from his extensive professional experience and his commitment to developing well-rounded vocal artists.
