Seth Keeton
About
Seth Keeton is an Associate Professor of Voice and Chair of the Voice Area at the University of Utah School of Music. A bass-baritone with performances described by The New York Times as "driven" and "emotionally pointed," he has performed operatic roles across the United States and in Germany with major opera companies including The Minnesota Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Central City Opera, and Arizona Opera. In 2006, he was a national finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Beyond performance, Keeton is a dedicated scholar and recitalist specializing in art song repertoire, including rarely performed works. He created SongHelix (www.songhelix.com), an innovative online search tool that enables users to access the vast repertoire of classical songs and draw novel connections between individual songs based on their music, poetry, origin, and authorship. The database currently contains nearly 7,000 unique song entries with robust metadata. At the University of Utah, he teaches undergraduate and graduate vocal pedagogy, voice teaching practicum, and applied voice lessons, helping develop the next generation of vocal performers and teachers.
