Dr. Scott David Miller is a tenor and Professor of Music who serves as the Director of Voice Studies at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. He joined the faculty in 2007 and is described as a versatile singing actor equally skilled in opera, oratorio, musical theatre, and recital performance. Dr. Miller earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a Regents Fellow and a graduate teaching assistant in voice and diction. He also holds a Master of Music and Bachelor of Science in Education from the same institution. At Whitworth, Dr. Miller teaches private voice lessons, Diction for Singers, Song Literature, Voice Performance Lab, Vocal Pedagogy, and Opera Workshop. He actively performs professionally and champions new vocal works. Dr. Miller recently returned from a five-month residency as Visiting International Scholar at Mahidol University College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand. He has been involved in directing opera productions at Whitworth, including serving as Director for the Music Departments production of Handels Alcina. His teaching emphasizes both technical excellence and artistic expression, preparing students for careers in performance and music education.
