About
Saundra DeAthos-Meers is an Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at the College of Charleston. An accomplished soprano with an extensive performance career spanning major U.S. opera companies, she began professionally as an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera's Merola Program. Critics have praised her remarkable quality of both vocal and dramatic presentations. She has performed leading roles at Utah Festival Opera, Helena Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and Opera Charleston. DeAthos-Meers specializes in operatic performance, voice instruction, opera direction and production, and concert repertoire including works by Handel, Mozart, Dvořák, Beethoven, Brahms, Poulenc, and Fauré. She produces major opera productions including Dialogues of the Carmelites, Die Zauberflöte, and Les contes d'Hoffmann.
