About
Sari Gruber is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music, recognized as 'nothing short of sensational' by Opera magazine. An accomplished soprano with a distinguished international performance career, she has appeared as a leading artist with major opera companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Santa Fe Opera. Her extensive recital career has taken her to prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, and the 92nd Street Y, where she has performed concert works with orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, and Pittsburgh Symphony. She was the winner of First Place at the 2005 Walter W. Naumburg Foundation International Vocal Competition, recognized as one of America's most prestigious vocal competition awards. Her performance credits include the 1997 PBS Great Performances telecast of Hรคnsel und Gretel as Gretel. At Carnegie Mellon, she teaches voice and performance while also serving as an instructor in musical theater vocal technique at Point Park University's College of Performing Arts. She maintains an active private studio and her students have performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and on Broadway.
