About
Sarah Williams is the Senior Lecturer of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she has taught since 2006. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music degree and earned her Master of Music Degree and Artists Diploma from Binghamton University, where she sang multiple operatic roles with Tri-Cities Opera. At Marist, she became Director of Choral Activities in 2007 and teaches music theory, music history, vocal skills, private voice studio, and choral conducting. She is the primary conductor for Marist Singers, a choir of approximately 170 singers that performs throughout the year, and also conducts the Marist Chamber Singers, a select choir that performs extensively throughout the community. Under her direction, her choirs have toured internationally to Austria, Puerto Rico, and performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, as well as concerts in Washington DC, Kansas City, and Orlando. Sarah is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), and the honor societies Kappa Kappa Psi and Mu Phi Epsilon. Her teaching integrates her extensive operatic performance experience with comprehensive choral pedagogy, helping students develop both solo vocal technique and ensemble singing skills.
