Sarah McQueen-Cunningham is the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies and Professor of Music at Odessa College, serving the Midland-Odessa area. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from California State University, Sacramento and a Master of Music in Music Education. At Odessa College, Sarah teaches courses including Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensembles, Music Theory, Ear Training, Piano, Music Appreciation, Pop Music in the US, Music History, and provides private instruction in both classical and jazz voice and piano. Before joining Odessa College, Sarah served as the Director of Vocal Studies at Sierra College, where the SC Jazz Singers under her direction won the prestigious Downbeat Award for Best Student Ensemble. She is also a voice and piano teacher at West Texas Music Academy. As a performer, Sarah's voice can be heard on five of the last seven Sacramento State vocal jazz albums, the "Best of College Acapella 2007", and many RSVP albums. She specializes in teaching age-appropriate vocal development, breath control, note reading, and performing across a variety of repertoire, with particular expertise in jazz vocal technique.
