Sarah Maines
About
Dr. Sarah Maines is a mezzo-soprano voice teacher and specialist in voice pedagogy with over 20 years of teaching experience. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory and specializes in singing voice habilitation and rehabilitation for disordered vocalists. Dr. Maines is a member of the Portland Opera Chorus and collaborates with regional companies including Broadway Rose, Lakewood Theatre, Fear No Music, and Resonance Ensemble. She administers singing voice habilitation by referral from the OHSU Voice Clinic and is certified in Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy and Casper-Stone Confidential Flow Therapy, as well as Contemporary Commercial Music and gender-affirming voice pedagogy. Currently teaching at THE MAINESTUDIO, University of Portland, and Reed College, Dr. Maines brings evidence-based voice science and inclusive pedagogy to her instruction. She is an active researcher and presenter at international voice conferences.

Bachelor of Arts in Voice Performance from Berea College. Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory. Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah Conservatory. Certifications: Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy (Basic and Advanced Adult), Casper-Stone Confidential Flow Therapy, Contemporary Commercial Music, Music Theatre Pedagogy (Jeanette LoVetri).
