A Richmond native, Sarah Kate Walston holds a Bachelor of Music from Lee University and both a Master of Music degree and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University. She maintains a private voice studio in Richmond's Carytown neighborhood and serves on the voice faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University and Randolph Macon College. She brings 12+ years of private voice instruction experience combined with her faculty positions. Walston has completed training at Lorin Maazel's Castleton Residency for Young Artists, Wolf Trap Institute Professional Development, and Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. Her teaching emphasizes explaining and demystifying the singing process with focus on breath control, posture, vowel placement, and vocal health fundamentals.
