Samuel Martin is a renowned pianist and Visiting Assistant Professor of Vocal Studies and Director of Vocal Studies at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. He is recognized for versatility across recital, chamber, choral, orchestral, opera, and musical theater settings, with performances nationally and internationally including recent appearances in Germany, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Martin holds a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Ithaca College. He is a Fellow of the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar. Beyond his teaching at Hartt, Martin founded the Cincinnati Song Initiative (CSI), described as Cincinnati's champion for art song. This award-winning nonprofit concert series promotes contemporary vocal music through accessible programming and recently launched a partnership with Cincinnati Public Radio. He regularly guest teaches at major institutions including the San Francisco Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, and Ithaca College. Martin has released recordings on BCM&D Records, including Before She Became Fire with mezzo-soprano Kathryn Leemhuis.
