Samantha Mishima Friedman is a mezzo-soprano and voice instructor with over a decade of experience. She serves as Visiting Instructor of Voice at Mercer University and Graduate Music Instructor at Wesleyan College. She is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of Georgia, holds a Master of Music from Mercer University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Her students have won awards at competitions including Georgia NATS and Classical Singer Magazine and have been accepted into various music programs. She specializes across multiple vocal genres: opera, musical theater, jazz, and Contemporary Commercial Music. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes an inclusive learning environment, tailoring her approach to each student's unique strengths and goals. As an active performer, she has appeared in productions such as Così fan tutte, Postcard from Morocco, The Bear, and A Little Night Music, plus oratorios, musicals, and recitals. She advocates for underrepresented composers, particularly focusing on female composers and overlooked works in vocal literature.
