Ryan Davis
About
Ryan Davis is an accomplished Professor of Voice at Sweet Briar College with a distinguished career spanning vocal instruction, choral direction, and professional performance. A top-placing vocalist in the 2015 Shenandoah Conservatory Student Solo Competition, Ryan brings both technical expertise and artistic excellence to his teaching. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral/General Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Shenandoah Conservatory, and has furthered his vocal studies in Salzburg, Austria. Beyond his college teaching responsibilities, Ryan is the founder and Artistic Director of The Seven Hills Chorus, an accomplished vocal ensemble, and owner of Davis Voice Studio in the Lynchburg area. Previously, he served as choral director at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he developed his skills in ensemble direction and music education. As a professional performer, Ryan has appeared as a soloist in major oratorio works, toured Europe as a concert performer, sung in opera choruses, and collaborated with Grammy award-winning conductors. He has directed numerous theatrical productions including Mary Poppins, Singin in the Rain, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, bringing comprehensive musicianship to stage and concert performance. His students benefit from his dual expertise in rigorous vocal technique and dynamic ensemble leadership.
