Rufus Johnson is an accomplished singer, songwriter, teacher, and sound engineer from Richmond, Virginia with a passion for music education and community service. He holds a degree in Music Education from Fayetteville State University and has dedicated nearly 20 years to music education, including 16 years as a music educator in the public school system. Johnson brings extensive professional performance experience, having been part of the Stellar Award nominated group G.I. and establishing himself as a respected gospel and R&B artist. His musical voice has been shaped by careful listening and observation of musical traditions, influences, and historical contexts, which he brings to his teaching methodology. He is deeply committed to community engagement and philanthropy, serving as a worship leader at Speaking Spirit Ministries while maintaining his role as a voice and piano teacher at BGA School of Music. Johnson specializes in teaching gospel, R&B, jazz, pop, and soul music, helping students develop healthy vocal technique, performance confidence, and artistic expression.
