Ron Boucher is an accomplished professional voice teacher and accomplished vocalist with extensive experience both as a performer and educator. With a distinguished performing career spanning multiple decades, Boucher made his professional New York debut in fall 1976 as a principal character with the New York City Opera in Gian-Carlo Menottis production of "The Saint of Bleecker Street." In 1979, he was featured in the Metropolitan Operas PBS broadcast production of "Otello," appearing alongside legendary tenor Placido Domingo. Boucher began his career as a professional dancer and performer at age 15, working in operas and musicals throughout New England before transitioning to voice instruction. For over 20 years, he served as the founder and administrative director of the Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts (1993-2019), where he taught voice, acting, and choreography to hundreds of students. His students have advanced to prestigious universities and conservatories including NY University, Carnegie Mellon, Elon, and Manhattan School of Music, with many performing in Broadway productions, national touring shows, major cruise ships, and theme parks. Boucher is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and uses the principles of Speech Level Singing to develop natural voice placement with healthy vocal technique. He teaches across multiple genres including classical, pop, country, jazz, and musical theatre, helping each student find the style that best suits their voice and aspirations.
