Robert Peavler

Dr. Robert Peavler is Professor of Voice and a distinguished baritone at Eastern Michigan University, located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. With a career spanning multiple decades, Dr. Peavler is an accomplished performer, educator, and scholar who regularly performs as a recitalist and soloist, and serves as a frequent adjudicator and clinician in the field of vocal music. He holds degrees in Choral Music Education from Central Michigan University and both a Master of Music and Doctor of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. His recording From The Heartland showcases a collection of contemporary American art song, highlighting composers Kirke Mechem, Dominic Argento, Thomas Pasatieri, and Timothy Hoekman. His operatic credits include leading roles in Le nozze di Figaro, Gianni Schicchi, Hansel and Gretel, and Noye's Fludde. Dr. Peavler is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), having served as President for Michigan NATS and participated in the NATS Foundation Intern Program. He has published in and had his books and CD reviewed by the Journal of Singing. His teaching career includes positions at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Columbus State University, and extensive experience as a vocal instructor and staff choir conductor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the New York State Summer School for the Arts. He is co-author of The Melodies of Francis Poulenc: A Study Guide, published by Scarecrow Press.
