Rick Hoffenberg
About
Dr. Rick Hoffenberg is Associate Professor, Director of Choral Activities, and Co-Chair of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He joined the Marywood faculty in 2007, bringing extensive experience as a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and conductor. Dr. Hoffenberg holds a bachelor of arts degree from Princeton University, a master of music degree from Westminster Choir College, and a master of arts and doctorate in music from Yale University. He also serves as coordinator of vocal and keyboard studies at Marywood University. His professional experience spans over 23 summers at Chautauqua Opera, where he works as pianist, coach, and assistant conductor on the music staff. He has also worked in various capacities for New York City Opera, BMG Classics/RCA Victor Red Seal, Columbia Artists Management, the Milken Archive, and Spoleto Festival USA. Additionally, Dr. Hoffenberg serves as Music Director of the Wyoming Seminary Civic Orchestra in Kingston, PA. His expertise in vocal coaching and collaborative piano makes him an invaluable resource for singers seeking to develop their artistry, interpretation, and performance skills. He teaches courses including Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, Vocal Coaching, and Applied Piano at Marywood.
