Randall Speer is a distinguished Associate Professor of Music at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he directs choral and instrumental ensembles, teaches courses in vocal performance and conducting, and serves as Music Director for music theatre and Greek Play productions. He holds advanced degrees in music education and choral conducting from California State University Fresno, the University of Iowa, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. An accomplished tenor soloist with an extensive performance portfolio, Speer has appeared in local and regional oratorio, opera, and musical theater productions including Bach Christmas Oratorio with Magnum Chorum, Carmina Burana with the Mississippi Valley Chamber Orchestra, Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Lynchburg Community Concert Series, and Fiddler on the Roof with Fresno Lyric Opera. As a conductor, he has led choral and orchestral performances throughout the United States and Europe, including collaborations with the Mississippi Valley Chamber Orchestra, Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria, and Varna Symphony Orchestra in Bulgaria. A former alumnus of the internationally acclaimed Dale Warland Singers, Speer founded and directed the critically acclaimed vocal chamber ensemble Voce Magna and the Voce Magna Symphonic Chorus in Minnesota. He also serves as Music Director at Court Street United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. In 2019, Speer was selected for an exclusive invitation to conduct at Carnegie Hall in New York City, marking his second invitation to perform at this prestigious venue. His 2012 Carnegie Hall debut conducting Mozarts Solemn Vespers was acclaimed as stunning, memorable, and sensitively led. In 2010, Speer received the Katherine Graves Davidson Award from Randolph College for bringing distinction to the institution. His students and ensembles consistently achieve recognition at regional and national levels.
