Rachel Copeland
About
Rachel Copeland is an Associate Professor of Voice and Associate Director of Graduate Studies at Penn State University School of Music. She is an acclaimed coloratura soprano recognized as "a revelation with her coloratura soprano leaping easily to impossible heights!" Her extensive operatic career spans performances with major opera companies including Cleveland Opera Theater and San Diego Opera. Notable roles include the Queen of the Night in Mozarts The Magic Flute, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frasquita in Carmen, and performances as Woglinde in Wagners Das Rheingold and the first nymph in Dvoraks Rusalka with North Carolina Opera. Beyond the operatic stage, she is renowned for her elegant and smooth tone in oratorio and symphonic works, with collaborations involving major conductors and orchestras. Copeland serves as a master class instructor nationally and internationally, including faculty positions at the Cornish American Song Institute in England and festival roles in Italy and Mexico. Her students have advanced to prestigious conservatories and won numerous awards. She teaches voice and lyric diction courses at Penn State, focusing on the technical and artistic elements of vocal performance.
