Phyllis Horridge
About
Phyllis Horridge is the owner and founder of Phyllis & Friends Singing Lessons, a boutique multi-teacher studio established in 2011 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is a 2022 Emerging Leader recognized by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). With a Master's Degree in Music from George Mason University and a Bachelor's Degree in Music (with theatre minor) from Lynchburg College, Virginia, Phyllis brings comprehensive musical training to her teaching. She is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre & Acting from Minnesota State University - Mankato. Phyllis has performed extensively throughout the country, was selected to sing with the Washington National Opera at age 14, and performed Off-Broadway at the Drama Desk Award Winning York Theatre Company in New York City. She is an award-winning choir director and maintains active membership in SAG-AFTRA, appearing in films and television including ABC's Body of Proof. Her professional training includes study with contemporary commercial music pioneers Jeanie LoVetri and Edrie Means Weekly. She holds certifications in Somatic Voicework, participated in the Summer Vocology Institute at The National Center for Voice and Speech with Dr. Ingo Titze, and is trained in Estill Voice with Tom Burke. She is an active member of NATS, NAfME, Actors Equity Association, and SAG-AFTRA. Phyllis is an adjudicator for NATS National Student Auditions, Alaska Music Theatre Festival, and Louisiana State 4-H Talent Competition.
