Peter Volpe is a Professor of Music (Voice) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and an internationally acclaimed American bass vocalist with over 35 years of professional performance experience. Praised for his stentorian and robust bass by The New York Times, Volpe continually receives critical and popular acclaim across four continents. His career includes 13 seasons singing bass roles at the Metropolitan Opera, where he debuted in Prokofiev's War and Peace. He possesses a vast and ever-expanding repertoire of over 90 roles in six languages, including notable roles such as Don Giovanni, King Philip II in Don Carlo, and Méphistophélès in Faust. He has performed at leading opera houses including Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, and internationally renowned venues. After his extensive professional career, Volpe returned to Indiana University in 2017 as an associate professor of music in voice, later promoted to full professor. He is an Indiana University alumnus who studied at the university during his early career.
