Penelope Bitzas
About
Penelope Bitzas is a mezzo-soprano and Associate Professor of Music in Voice at Boston University, where she has taught since 1993. She received the prestigious Metcalf Award in 2007, Boston University's highest honor for excellence in teaching. With extensive international performance experience, she performs in opera, contemporary music, solo recital, and orchestral settings. She has performed under notable conductors including Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa, and Gustav Meier. In 2013, she became director of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Vocal Program. Penelope brings both performance expertise and pedagogical excellence to her teaching.
