Paulina Villarreal

Paulina Villarreal is an Assistant Professor of Music (Voice) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, one of the most prestigious music schools in the United States. A versatile mezzo-soprano with a dynamic international career, Villarreal specializes in Latin American and Iberian vocal music, with particular expertise in zarzuela and Mexican vocal repertoire. She earned her D.M.A. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2018), her M.M. from Cincinnati CCM (2015), and her B.M. from Appalachian State University (2013). Previously, Villarreal served as faculty at the University of Memphis and Millikin University. She founded and directs the Cantos para el Mundo concert series in Mexico and teaches at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Her performance credentials include venues such as Cincinnati Opera, Boston Pops, and Tanglewood Music Center. Villarreal is a sought-after clinician, lecturer, and published researcher who presents at major conferences nationally and internationally. Her research focuses on Mexican composer MarΓa Grever and Latin American art song. She is a recipient of the Yamaha Corporation Excellence in Music Education Award and brings expertise in classical, musical theater, and commercial music genres.
