Pamela Dellal
About
Pamela Dellal is an accomplished mezzo-soprano and voice instructor at the Longy School of Music of Bard College, specializing in Voice and Historical Performance. She also serves as faculty at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Her singing has been praised for its exquisite vocal color and eloquent phrasing, and she has performed at major venues including Symphony Hall, Kennedy Center, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall, working under renowned conductors including Seiji Ozawa and William Christie. Her repertoire encompasses an astonishing range from 12th-century monody through Renaissance songs, Baroque cantatas and oratorios, 18th-21st century art songs and operas, and premieres of new works. As Director of Emmanuel Music's Bach Institute and a published scholar with articles in Early Music (U.K.), Dellal brings deep scholarly knowledge to her teaching. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes collaborative, systematic instruction focused on helping singers understand their technique through physical awareness and articulation of vocal production concepts, breaking down the study of singing into several physical acts: breath production, resonance, and placement.
