Nicole Franklin
About
Nicole Franklin is a soprano who joined East Carolina University’s voice faculty in 2016, where she teaches applied studio voice and graduate vocal pedagogy. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and serves as an adjudicator for State and Regional NATS, Music Teachers National Association, Texas State UIL competitions, and university aria competitions. Her students have achieved notable success, including participation in young artist programs internationally, advanced degrees at respected music schools, and awards from State and Regional NATS competitions, the Edward Baird Singer of the Year award, and the Orpheus National Vocal Competition. Franklin has performed operatic roles including Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. She recorded the role of Laetitia in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief (Albany Records, 2007) with Lone Spring Arts. Her concert performances span major orchestral and choral works across numerous ensembles, including performances with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Houston Masterworks Chorus. She holds degrees in vocal performance from both Baylor University and The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
