Nancy Rosenberg
About
Dr. Nancy Rosenberg is a accomplished composer, musical director, vocalist, and music educator at Brown University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Comparative Literature from Brown University, a Master of Arts in Musicology from Boston University, and a Doctorate in Music Education from Boston University (2010). At Brown University, Dr. Rosenberg has instructed in the Applied Music program focusing on voice instruction since 1995, specializing in jazz and popular styles. Previously, she taught Musicianship and Music Theory courses at Brown from 1983 to 2001. Beyond her academic roles, she maintains an active freelance career as a composer and musical director. Dr. Rosenberg has composed five full-length musicals and twelve musical plays for children, including 'The Sun's Musicians,' which received a Kennedy Center's New Visions/New Voices award. She has contributed to children's media projects and commercial compositions, and has served as a secondary music educator in Boston and Providence schools. Currently, she serves as resident Music Director at Roger Williams University, where she teaches courses in Musical Theater and The Art of Rock & Roll. Her recent choral work includes 'Eagle Song' (2022), commissioned by the First Unitarian Church of Providence.
