About
Nancy Klingman is a highly experienced voice teacher and soprano with a distinguished career spanning opera, concert, and recital performances. Established in 1983, she brings over 40 years of teaching experience to her Spokane studio. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees in Voice from the University of Denvers Lamont School of Music. Her performance career has taken her across major venues in Chicago and New York, as well as regional opera productions in the Midwest, England, and Italy. Her operatic repertoire includes significant roles such as the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, both Donna Anna and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Frasquita in Carmen, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, and the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte. Nancy has performed in major oratorio works including Handels Messiah, Mendelssohns Elijah, Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bernsteins Chichester Psalms, and Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music. She was featured in the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy. Nancy believes that voice lessons can be a journey where diligent work and joy are partners, and that excellence is achievable. Her studio provides a safe and constructive environment where students can explore new vocal techniques. She teaches classical voice technique for all ages and voice types, offering diction coaching in German, French, Italian, Spanish, and English, as well as college/conservatory preparation and audition coaching.
