Nancy King
About
Dr. Nancy King is a Canadian soprano and Chair of the Department of Music at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is also Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Vocal Performance at UNCW. In 2014, she co-founded Opera Wilmington and serves as Artistic Director and stage director. Dr. King holds a DMA in vocal performance from the University of Minnesota, along with degrees from the University of Western Ontario and Boston University. She has performed with the NC Baroque Orchestra, Opera Wilmington, the Toronto Classical Singers, the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, and the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. During her time at UNCW, she founded WOOP! (UNCW's Opera Outreach Project), presenting opera lectures and various outreach programs. She is also the creative spirit behind Opera Wilmington's Opera Camp and continues as its director. Her operatic roles include performances in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Lehár's Merry Widow, and Bernstein's Candide.
