Nancy Gustafson is an acclaimed opera singer and Artist-in-Residence at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where she has taught since 2006. Born in Evanston, Illinois, she holds the prestigious title of KammersÀngerin (chamber singer) awarded by Vienna State Opera in 2001. She has performed at major international venues including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Opéra National Paris, Chicago Lyric Opera, and Vienna State Opera. Her career highlights include performing opposite Plåcido Domingo and collaborating with maestros including Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin, Sir Georg Solti, Sir Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Muti. She appeared in world premieres including Deborah Drattell's Nicholas and Alexandra and Lorin Maazel's 1984. She founded the Songs by Heart Foundation, dedicated to connecting people with memory loss to the language and joy of music, operating across multiple U.S. states.
