About
Nancy Allen is an Instructor of Musical Theatre Voice and Stage Voice and Diction at Belmont University's College of Music and Performing Arts, where she has taught for over 20 years. She previously coordinated the university's nationally-ranked, award-winning musical theatre program for 11 years. A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude), she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Voice Performance from The Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. She studied with renowned voice educators Ruth Drucker, Dr. Thomas Houser, and Gordon Hawkins. Nancy is certified in Somatic Voicework, The LoVetri Method, which draws from multiple disciplines to provide body-based vocal training. She is also certified in level one of Andrew Byrne's The Singing Athlete: Brain-based Training of Your Voice. Her innovative cross-training approach for musical theatre voices has produced exceptional student results, with her graduates performing on Broadway, in Broadway National Tours, with Disney and other cruise lines, non-equity national tours, and in excellent regional equity and non-equity theaters.
