Nan McSwain is an accomplished pianist and vocal coach at the University of Kentucky, where she serves as Senior Lecturer and Vocal Coach for the prestigious UK Opera Theatre. With over 30 years of collaborative performance and coaching experience, she has established herself as a highly respected voice specialist in both operatic and classical music. McSwain brings extensive expertise in operatic preparation and rehearsal, having served as vocal coach for major opera productions including Phantom of the Opera, Porgy and Bess, La Boheme, La Traviata, and Carmen. Her performance background includes touring and recording with the American Spiritual Ensemble and concert work throughout North America, Spain, and Canada, demonstrating her high professional standards and international experience. Since joining UK Opera Theatre as an accompanist in 1990 and as a vocal coach since 2005, she has become an essential figure in training UK's opera singers. Her previous experience includes positions at prestigious institutions such as the American Institute for Musical Studies in Austria and Michigan Opera Theatre, as well as serving as Assistant Music Director for "Grand Night for Singing." McSwain's dedication to vocal excellence and her collaborative piano skills make her an invaluable resource for singers seeking to develop artistically and technically.
