Monica Berovides-Hidalgo
About
Monica Berovides-Hidalgo is an accomplished mezzo-soprano and voice instructor serving the South Florida community with expertise in multiple vocal disciplines. She holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and a Master of Arts with a concentration in choral conducting from Florida Atlantic University, where she studied under the tutelage of Dr. Patricia P. Fleitas. Monica is an adjunct professor of voice at Florida Atlantic University's Department of Music, where she teaches voice lessons and collaborates with the music faculty. She also serves as Director of Worship at First United Methodist Church of Coral Springs and holds leadership positions with Schola Cantorum of Florida as assistant conductor and artist in residence. In these roles, she directs the music academy for K-12 students. Additionally, Monica serves as Music Director with Torch and Trumpet Theater Company. Her professional certifications include Somatic Voicework (The LoVetri Method) and Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy certification from Shenandoah University. She has completed Lyric Diction Workshop training from Vanderbilt University and won first-place in the Michael and Madelyn Savarick Competition in 2008. Monica's teaching specialties encompass voice instruction across opera, musical theater, art song, contemporary commercial music, and Latin American popular music, serving students of all ages and skill levels.
