Monica Berovides Hidalgo
About
Monica Berovides Hidalgo is an accomplished mezzo-soprano and adjunct professor of voice at Florida Atlantic University. She is a sought-after soloist with extensive experience in studio recording and cross-over styles, performing in opera, musical theater, art song, and contemporary Christian music. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida Atlantic University and her Master of Arts with a concentration in Choral Conducting from FAU, where she studied under the distinguished tutelage of Dr. Patricia P. Fleitas. In 2008, she received the first-place award in the Michael and Madelyn Savarick Competition and was selected to present an honors voice student recital in the President's mansion at Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Berovides-Hidalgo holds important professional positions including Director of Worship at First United Methodist Church of Coral Springs, Assistant Conductor and Artist in Residence with Schola Cantorum of Florida, and Music Director with Torch and Trumpet Theater Company. She is certified in Somatic Voicework: The LoVetri Method, certified with The Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University, and has completed the Lyric Diction Workshop at Vanderbilt University. She serves as soloist, section leader, and director of the SCOF Music Academy, where she has worked since 2009.
